Cross Fader Heroics

This works really well with break beat and 2 step but with practice can be used in most sets to grab the attention ( but I would not get carried away ).
When you have the two records properly bearmatched try flipping the cross fader from one side to the other just of a beat or two for example 8 beats may go 1,1,1,1,1,2,2,1 where 1 and 2 are the two records this also works nicely if you fit it in right before an awesome breakdown to throw every one off the scent. They think you are going to mix into a new tune and suddenly the breakdown comes - quel surprise.

Mixing with the equalizer section

If you have two tracks lined up which are in key you can have some fun with the EQ on the Mixer
Mid mix try dropping out,say the, mid on one track and the bass and treble from the other this will then give you a new tune with the vocals/melody from one and the drum line from the other then you can slowly invert the positions of bass mid and treble to mix and match the parts. With the right two tunes you can create some awesome effects.
