I really enjoy trawling charity shops for old vinyl as you can find some real treasure there. I think one of my best finds was salt’n’peppa Push It which is always fun to drop into a modern set and see how long it takes people to notice.
I think one of the most influential DVDs I have seen is Scratch. I remember after seeing it I spent about two months in my little studio learning to play hip hop and scratch. I still practice regularly trying to learn new techniques I can use in sets.Occasionally after a good night when it is time to get everyone out of the club/bar I will drop some old funk or soul and scratch the hell out of it and let the last few stragglers get their groove on.
I would love to do a house night with live musicians. I have been to a few and they are nearly always awesome, has the guys playing live really put loads of emotion (usually joy ) into it and the whole crowd feels it. I just need to find someone who can really play a sax or bassoon.
